Bowlers Roll On
Varsity Bowling Finishes 2nd out of 22 at Lancer Baker Bash.
Varsity Bowling finished last 2nd out of 22 teams last weekend, knocking off some of the top ranked teams in the city at the Lancer Baker Bash.
The tournament was a complete Baker Game tournament. For those of you asking, "What is a Baker Game?" -- Baker Games are a total team events. A different player bowls each frame 1-5, then you start the rotation over again for frames 6-10. You can substitute players in, but a player who comes out may not re-enter until the following game. The team has to work together and stay focused to build off each other.
The format was a head to head bracket of the top 12 qualifying teams from 16 Baker Games played in the morning. Moeller just made the cut as the #12 seed. To advance, you must win 2 of 3 baker games in the head to head match up. Total pins did not matter.
First up in bracket play was #5 seed, Elder. Moe knocked them out in just 2 games. Next up was #4 seed, LaSalle. LaSalle struck first, but Moe came back and won the last 2 games to advance to meet #1 seed, Oak Hills. Moeller won the first game by 6 with a triple strike 10th frame by TJ Snyder. Oak Hills came back to win the 2nd game. Moeller struck back and won the third game to advance. The Championship match up was #7 seed Colerain. Moe handily beat Colerain 198 to 150 in the first game, but the Cardinals came back to win the last 2. Needless to say, it was an exciting day of match ups with an outstanding finish of 2nd place.
Moeller JV bowling also made the cut, as the 8th seed, but lost in their first match up against #1 JV seed, Fairfield.
