Golf

The Crusaders finished the week as they started it by playing some fine golf. On Tuesday, the team defeated Elder 166-184 at Aston Oaks. Tait Cunningham led the Crusaders with a 40. Alex Grubber, Adam Garbacik and Chris Glaser added 42. Yesterday, the team opened GCL play by defeating the Bombers by one shot in another exciting battle at Clovernook. Great pars on the last hole by Ben Sattler, Quinn Sullivan and Jake Fox helped the Crusaders edge St. X by a single stroke. Ben led the Crusaders with a great 35, tying for overall medalist. Michael O’Brien had a 36, Jake Fox a 37 and Quinn Sullivan a 39. The team plays next Tuesday at Hyde Park in the second GCL Quad match.

Cross Country keeps the Pace

In what might be the largest meet in Ohio in terms of sheer size and caliber of competition (7000+ athletes and 280 teams), featuring most of the top ranked teams in the state including a few teams from beyond Ohio, the Moeller Cross Country Team finished with a respectable 21st place finish (out of 45 divisional teams) at the Tiffin Cross Country Carnival in Tiffin, Ohio on September 6, 2014. 

Senior Mitch Poch had an outstanding race as Moeller’s top finisher in 32nd place (out of 311 runners) with a time of 16:20 over the 3.1 mile course.  Also running varsity were Matt DeWine, Nicholas Mendel, Jacob Weisgerber, Doug Girard, Steven Johnston, and Ben Bowers

The JV-A squad had an impressive performance finishing 3rd (out of 37 divisional teams)with Senior Eddy Pappalardo as Moeller’s highest finisher in 5th place (out of 647 runner) in 17:50.  Also scoring for the JV/Open were Josh Jones, Isaac Lytle, Kevin Luers, and Nic Junker.

In the JV-B race at Winton Woods, that squad finished 4th (of 7 teams).  Senior Eli Stamsted was Moeller’s best finisher there in 22nd place (out of 85 runners) in 21:16.   Also scoring there were Jonathan O’Dell, Kevin Fehrenbach, Mike Staresinic, and Austin Herriott.

Athletic Update

Football:
Varsity at Xenia High School
Friday, September 12, at 7PM, Moeller varsity football will travel to Xenia to play the Buccaneers.  Xenia plays their home games at Cox Stadium, 506 Dayton Avenue, Xenia, OH  45385.  If you purchased Moeller Football Season tickets – you received your ticket for this game.  If you did not purchase season tickets, you will purchase your ticket at the gate the night of the game.  Moeller will not have pre-sale tickets available at Moeller for this game.

Varsity at Louisville St. Xavier
Friday, September 19, at 7:30pm, Moeller varsity football will travel to Louisville to play St. Xavier.  All tickets for this game must be purchased at Louisville St. Xavier.  Moeller will not have a pre-sale tickets available for this game.

JV Moeller vs Xenia, Saturday, September 13, at Moeller.  The game time has changed to 10am.  The game was originally scheduled for 12PM.Saturday, September 20, at Moeller, 11am vs Louisville St. Xavier.  Admission for JV Games: Adults $5, Students HS and under $4.

Freshmen Moeller vs Xenia, September 13th has been cancelled.  At this time we are trying to find a game for the freshman team.  If a game becomes available – it will be played at noon.Saturday, September 20, Freshmen will travel to Louisville St. Xavier.  Address is 1609 Poplar Level Road, Louisville, KY  40217.

Soccer - Varsity: 
GMC in IndyVarsity soccer will travel to North Central High School for the Great Midwest Classic.  The games are scheduled for Friday at 5pm and Saturday at 5pm.

Golf - Varsity Gold:  
Saturday, September 13 will play at 8am in the Covington Catholic Invitational at Boone Links Golf Course.

Saturday, September 13 will play at 12pm in the Upper Arlington Invitational at Scioto Country Club.

Cross Country:
Saturday, September 13 at 9am will participate in the Alliance Invitational at the Miami Valley Career Center in Clayton, OH.Saturday, September 20 at 9am will participate in the Midwest Catholic Championship at Indian Riffle Park.
