Fine Arts: Music
| Course Description |
| Through the discussion of and listening to different types of music, the student will gain a deeper understanding and knowledge of that which is an inescapable and integral part of his life. The student will become more familiar with musical notation, and learn how the elements of music (melody, harmony, rhythm, timbre, texture, and form) are combined to create different musical styles. Emphasis will be placed primarily on Western music, its history and evolution from Medieval times through the 21st century, with a culmination in American music, both serious concert fare, and lighter, stage and theatre works. Jazz will also be discussed. This course will expose them to music they otherwise may not hear, and thus present them with intelligent options for enrichment in their adult years. |
