CP 1 Algebra II and Trigonometry

Cp 1 Algebra II and Trigonometry is offered in order to prepare the student for the study of Pre-Calculus during the Senior year.
Course text: Algebra II and Trigonometry: Structure and Method by Richard G. Brown and Mary P. Dolciani (1990)
Topics to be studied in this class include:
Properties of Real Numbers
Properties of Equality and Order
Linear Functions and Relations
Systems of Linear Equations
Laws of Exponents, Polynomials and Rational Expressions
Radical Expressions
Arithmetic and Geometric Sequences and Series
Set of complex numbers
Sequences and series
Remainder and factor theorem in solving polynomial equations
Solving quadratic systems
Exponents, exponential and logrithmic equations
Analytic geometry
Trigonometric functions and equations
Triangle trigonometry
Complex numbers and polar coordinates
Practice assignments will be collected and graded on solution presentation and completeness on the following scale: +: 100, /:85, - : 70. Please refer to the instructor’s web page for a complete listing of each section’s practice problem set and related tutorial links.
A comprehensive final exam will be given each quarter.
The quarter grade will be the average of the following grades:
Chapter Test Scores (60%)
Practice assignment average (15%)
Exam (25%)
Obviously all students are expected to be in class on time in proper dress code and contribute to a positive learning environment.
Students are welcome to seek tutorial help from the instructor in his office (Room 342) each morning from 6:50 to 7:50 or by appointment after 2:45.
