This course presents and develops all the necessary topics for a pre-calculus course. It is intended for use by students who have completed two years of high school Algebra and one year of high school Geometry. It is written for average and above average students who would like a solid preparation for college mathematics, a review for College Board examinations, or simply further enrichment of their mathematical backgrounds.
The objectives of this class are to 1) provide a strong foundation of pre-calculus concepts and techniques, 2) present topics in a way that encourages students to become actively involved and accommodates different learning styles, 3) develop students’ quantitative reasoning and problem-solving skills, 4) develop students’ abilities to understand and communicate mathematical ideas effectively, 5) increase students appreciation of mathematics through seeing a wide range of mathematical applications
