French II and III places emphasis on grammar and composition, and correct French usage, written and spoken. With periodic reviews of basic grammar points, the student is led to more sophisticated means of expression.
The class includes an introduction to some French literature, and includes a deeper and fuller appreciation of French culture, both in France and in other countries. It is conducted in French and the atmosphere is somewhat less formal than on Level I.
Students will have occasional opportunities to participate in related out-of-school activities, e.g., lunch at a French restaurant, French films, etc.
It is important to note that French II and III is an advanced placement course, awarding the appropriate advanced level credit. The course demands the same type of commitment as other advanced placement courses.
