Introduction to Marketing and Management is a 1/2 credit course that introduces the main concepts of both disciplines.   While we will spend dedicated time to each subject, we will also spend time studying how they relate to each other. 

Within the marketing discipline, the concepts of product, price, promotion, distribution, market research, sales and meeting customers needs will be explored through independent research, group projects, case studies and discussion.  Each student will develop a comprehensive marketing plan for a chosen business.  The majority of the course will require daily research on the internet and access to a laptop each day.  The discovery method of learning will be used extensively.  This year, a comprehensive university level marketing simulation game will also be used.  In addition, guest speakers and conference calls with executives will occur frequently. 

Within the management discipline, the concepts of planning, organizing, and leading organizations will be explored through independent research, group projects, case studies and discussion.  The majority of the course will require daily research on the internet and access to a laptop each day.  The discovery method of learning will be used extensively.  This year, a comprehensive university level management simulation will be used.  In addition, guest speakers and conference calls with executives will occur frequently. 

A considerable amount of time, effort and your grade will be based on a collegiate level Marketing and Management computer simulation that involves intense analysis, positive team chemistry and the application of learned marketing and managment principles.  Each simulation quarter takes one week and approximately 2-5 hours of your time to complete properly.
