Prepare yourself – Take control – Don’t settle for less than your best!

Imagine having your son sitting in geometry class next year not only having seen many of the concepts being presented but actually understanding several of them.

Archbishop Moeller High School is once again offering the Geometry Summer Prep Course designed for the student wishing to better prepare for his geometry class next year. That little extra head start could make a big difference in one’s success in geometry. No matter what ability in math he may possess, there is room for improvement. Keep in mind geometry has a different way of problem solving than algebra and other math courses you may have had in the past. Geometry has a spatial approach to math in shapes, objects, and graphing to mention a few of these areas. Since many students struggle with geometry because of its uniqueness, the Geometry Summer Prep Course is just the ticket to help him better understand and build confidence for a very successful year in geometry.

All materials provided. Materials include a notebook, compass, protractor, paper, graph paper, pencils, note cards, etc. Your son will be able to use all of the materials and items he creates or works on during this prep course in his geometry class next fall. He will also create a section-by-section notebook and note cards that will contain the same information used in his geometry course. The Geometry Summer Prep Course instructor, Mr. Jim Jewell, with 21 years experience at Moeller High School specializing in math strategies, techniques, and interventions, has helped create the right mix of materials and applications to get your son started on the correct foot and keep him there.

Although most sessions will begin with a particular topic, Mr. Jewell will individualize this course to best meet your son's needs. 

Topics include, but are not limited to:

Proofs and some constructions
Polygons of all kinds (quadrilaterals, triangles, etc.)
Trigonometry (as it is used in geometry)
Circles (tangents, arcs, chords, angles, segments, etc.)
Postulates, theorems, corollaries
Parallel lines, planes, points, etc.

Schedule:     

Sessions meet two times a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays either 8:00 a.m. to 9:15 or 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. You may select which starting time you desire on the registration below.

The dates for this course are Tuesdays July 8, 15, 22, 29, and Thursdays July 10, 17, 24, 31.      

        Make-up class for all Tuesday sessions will be the following Monday from 8:00a.m. to 9:15 a.m.

        Make-up class for all Thursday sessions will be the following Monday from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m.

        (for example: Tuesday, July 8, either session, make-up would be the following Monday, July 14, from 8:00 a.m. to 9:15 a.m. or Thursday, July 17, either session, make-up would be the following Monday, July 21, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m.)

What if you go on VACATION or have SUMMER CAMP for a week? No problem. What ever is covered during each week will also be covered in the Monday make-up sessions. So, if you miss a session or an entire week, you can come to the Monday make-up session(s) and get everything that was covered the week before.

Refund Policy

(1.)  If the request for refund comes before the first class of the course, the original fee will be returned minus the cost of any materials purchased for the student. (2.) If the request for refund is made during or immediately after the first week of class, ½ of the fee will be refunded (again, minus the cost of materials). (3.) No refund will be made once the second week of classes has commenced.
