Welcome to Honors English class! This class will focus upon our American heritage in literature. You will study major American writers and their works, from the sixteenth to the twentieth centuries, in chronological order. Significant genres, literary devices, and themes found in the selections will be presented and analyzed. In addition to the text and the summer reading assignment, you will read at least seven novels. 

There is also a writing component. This will be integrated into the American Heritage material whenever possible. You will write various styles of essays and poems. There will also be a vocabulary program.

In addition to literature, writing, and vocabulary, each student will deliver and evaluate presentations and speeches.
