Part II (Second Quarter): Personal Morality
Part III (Third and Fourth Quarters): Social Justice
Course Goals
- Understanding the value of prayer.
- Learn how to prayer.
- Explore the basic beliefs of various world religions.
- Understand how to make moral decisions.
- Understand how to apply personal morality to the larger community.
- Understand the history of Catholicism and social justice.
- Gain a better understanding of yourself, and what it means to be Christian.
Classroom Methodology
The goals will be met by using a variety methods, including, but not limited to: classroom lecture, a scripture journal, reflective essays, quizzes, tests, research papers, group work, and prayer.
Grades will be calculated through a point system. Every assignment will be worth a certain number of points. Your quarter grade will be calculated by dividing the number of points earned by the number of points possible. There will be no extra credit.
Classroom Procedures and Rules:
- Be on time.
- No food or drink (will result in a school detention).
- Cell phones should be turned off (will result in a school detention).
- No disruptive behavior.
Except where noted otherwise, all disciplinary problems will result in a warning followed by a before-school detention at 7:00 am, and if necessary, a blue slip.
