Latin III and IV

I.     Course Description:  These courses are designed to help students continue to read and understand  Latin with proficiency.  Students will study grammar, usage, Roman culture, history, and mythology on an advanced level by reading the ancient authors (e.g., Julius Caesar and Cicero in Latin III ; Ovid and Vergil in Latin IV).

II.     Course Goals:  See Standards for Classical Language Learning page.

III.    Texts:  Varied according to author studied.

N.B.  THERE WILL ALSO BE MANY SUPPLEMENTARY HANDOUTS.  STUDENTS ARE TO KEEP ALL HANDOUTS AND RETURNED TESTS IN A FOLDER OR BINDER.

 IV.   Course Expectations and Grading:  There will be various types of homework assignments, as in Latin I and II.   Homework-translation  will still constitute about 20% of the quarter grade.  Homework assignments are posted on netmoeller.
