Advanced Computer Graphics is a year long study of computer-oriented design work using Adobe Photoshop CS2. This class is offered to students who have already taken the Introduction to Computer Graphics class and want to further their abilities in computer-based design. Students will have the opportunity to work and think like professional graphic designers, where the pace is fast and the expectations are high.
Prerequisite: Successful completion of Intro to Computer Graphics with an average of A/90% AND teacher signature.
What will you need?
1. Notebook and two pocket folder
2. Pen and pencil
3. 1 three ring binder
4. Tracing paper (8.5" X 11")
Materials available in the bookstore:
5. ILFORD Galerie Inkjet Paper, 25 sheet box, 8 ½” X 11”
Over the course of an entire year, you may need to purchase more if necessary. You may use another brand of photo paper, but it must be thick, inkjet paper. The thinner the paper is, the more you will run the risk of having ink blotches and/or cracked ink areas on your paper.
*Check for exact prices in the bookstore.
Other materials that you will need:
6. A MINIMUM of 25 Avery 8 ½” X 11” clear sheet protectors
These sheets come in varied weights, you will only need the Standard Sheet Protectors (most basic kind).
*These are available at any Office Max, Staples, or Office Depot stores.
Advanced Computer Graphics: Class Expectations
Students will be expected to follow ALL classroom policies. The students will be treated as if they are currently professional designers; thus, the classroom essentially becomes a design studio. Critiques and bi-weekly updates will transpire much in the same fashion as they do in design studios, with entire group involvment. Also, group projects will be introduced as well as individual projects. I expect every student to come to each class prepared and ready to work.
KEEPING YOUR WORK PROTECTED
Students will make numerous printouts in this class, many of which will be done on high gloss paper. Ir order to protect their work, both finished designs and preliminary sketches, students must keep everything protected in clear sleeves.
GRADING
Grades will be based upon the point system:
Quizzes: 25 points
Printed work: 25-100 points (depending on how many pieces are submitted)
Presentation: 100 points
Presentation points are determined by the following:
1. The work produced meets specified requirements (as given by Mr. Woolery).
2. Student clarity in presentation (speak clearly, stand straight, etc.)
3. Ability of student to complete presentation in given time frame.
