My background is in school and mental health counseling. I have had the privilege of working in the Sycamore Community School District as a Student Assistance Counselor for 7 years and at Seton High School as both Student Assistance Counselor and Guidance Counselor for 4 years. I bring my experiences from both schools to Archbishop Moeller High School in hopes of serving my advisees as well as the entire student body through the Student Assistance Program.
My role as a guidance counselor is to advise and assist my advisees and their families in the areas of academic, career and personal/social development. My approach is eclectic, however, I was trained in Rogerian counseling at the University of Cincinnati
My role as the Student Assistance Coordinator is to provide prevention and early intervention education to the entire Archbishop Moeller Community – students, parents, faculty and staff. I am the school’s liaison to Northeast Community Challenge Coalition - a nonprofit health lifestyle and healthy choices organization. I also oversee the student driven prevention organization and The Medicine Show Team. The student driven prevention organization is a new organization at Archbishop Moeller High School . Its mission is to sponsor alcohol, tobacco and other drug prevention activities to the Archbishop Moeller Community. The Medicine Show Team is a group of students form Archbishop Moeller high School and Mount Notre Dame High School who perform alcohol, tobacco and other drug prevention skits to 6th through 8th graders at our feeder parish schools.
Please feel free to call, 791-1680 ext. 1213, or e-mail me, GDorsey@Moeller.org , with any questions or concerns.
I look forward to working with you and your son. Remember, my door is always open to you and your son!
