Please Read

Before contacting Mrs. Gallagher about missing grades or an incorrect average, please make sure that you are seeing grades in ACTUAL POINT mode as opposed to PERCENTAGE mode.

Grades are calculated on a point value for each assignment / test / quiz.  Most have different point values and can exceed 100 points.

Please do not expect instantaneous posting of grades!!  Mrs. Gallagher will post as soon as possible after a grade has been recorded. Please keep the following in mind:

______________________________________________________________________

First and foremost, the new Blackbaud system allows Mrs. Gallagher to keep a grade book, which can be transferred to "NetMoeller" view on the Internet.  NetMoeller is a tool for students and parents to keep up with performance, progress, missed assignments, and in some cases, behavior.

Homework should be determined from the Germish Assignments website.  NetMoeller does not provide adequate information for assignment completion.

Total Points Mode   should always be used to view grades, instead of the percentages mode (selected from the drop-down menu).

EC points will only appear in Total Points mode.

Comments for each assignments can be accessed by clicking on the assignment in question.

  1. If there is no comment in the appropriate column, one has not been added.

"M"  in the grading column denotes a missing assignment due to Absence.

  1. All M's calculate automatically as a 0 until a point value is entered.

  2. As a result, significant drops in quarter average often occur.

"X"  in the grading column can mean two things.

  1. The assignment is collected, as in the case of submitted essays, but not yet graded/recorded.
    -

Distinctions will (always) be made in the assignment title.  Be sure to read the information completely before contacting Mrs. Gallagher.

  1.  The student is exempt from the assignment.  The grade is "invisible" and will NOT count against the student.
    -

This usually results from absences where the work is not required for make-up.

Collection of homework.

Black Box

-

All homework is to be handwritten.

-

Exceptions:  rough and final drafts of papers, Internet projects, electronic worksheets, and as otherwise indicated in writing on the Assignments page.

-

Title all assignments with name, date, title of the assignment and bell in the upper right hand corner.

-

Assignments are due to the black box on Mrs. Gallagher's desk.
-

Do not put papers anywhere else but the black box.

-

Vocabulary books and OGT books should be turned in to the black table.
-

Pick-up of these books is allowed only if materials appear on the media cart.

-

Books still on the black table are not yet graded.

-

Taking your book early will be treated as an unsubmitted assignment.

-

Assignments are collected and stapled together as a class, precluding the possibility of loss.
-

Vocabulary books and OGT books are not removed from the classroom.

-

Grading usually takes place on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday.  Postings are USUALLY made after those days, but there is no guarantee.  (For example, if no assignments were assigned, no grades would post.)

- Keep all returned assignments.
- Computer deletions DO occur for various, unforeseen reasons.  If a grade has been inadvertently deleted or entered incorrectly, credit will be granted when the GRADED paper is produced and credit is due.
- Since students are required to check NetMoeller on a class-by-class basis, It is the responsibility of the student to call all discovered errors to Mrs. Gallagher's attention ASAP.
- Deadlines for such mistakes are one week prior to Midterm or one week prior to the end of Quarter.

Internet

-

All Computer Assignments should be ported to the Gallagher Teacher folder of the X-drive.

  2. Close the document!
  3. Right click on green Start button.
  4. Select Explorer.
  5. Select My Documents.
  6. Open your English I folder
  7. Right click on your document; do NOT open it.
  8. Select Copy.
  9. Scroll down the left column of Explorer until you see and click on the X-drive.
  10. Select Teacher Folders.
  11. Select Gallagher.
  12. Select Turn-In.
  13. Select the folder for your Bell, and then select the folder for your assignment.
  14. Right click and select Paste.
  15. Your document should magically appear in the assignment folder.  If you don't see it, it isn't there.
    1. If you see the words "Shortcut," "Scrap" or the document size is 1MB, carefully repeat the entire procedure.
    2. Teachers CANNOT access Shortcuts posted to the X-drive.  If you post a shortcut, the paper will be treated as not received.

-

Title all document files with Lastname, First Name followed by title specified in the assignment.

-

Lastname, SACD IP is the correct title for the Sir Arthur Conan Doyle Internet Project.

-

Students MUST put their computer work into  the proper folder with the proper assignment title.

-

It is the student's responsibility to ensure that their work is properly submitted.

-

A document with no personal name on the file or document is impossible to track down.  By default, the assignment will be treated as an unsubmitted assignment.

-

A document with a virus cannot be opened and will be treated as an unsubmitted assignment.

-

A missing assignment to the GTF is treated the same as an unsubmitted hard paper copy.

-

Late Computer Assignments may NOT be submitted to the GTF of the X-drive.

-

Late Computer Assignments must be e-mailed.

-

Mrs. Gallagher is not responsible for tracking down improperly submitted work.

- Keep all returned assignments whether they are hard copies or computer copies.
- Computer deletions DO occur for various, unforeseen reasons.  If a grade has been inadvertently deleted or entered incorrectly, credit will be granted when the GRADED paper is produced and credit is due.
- Deadlines for such mistakes are one week prior to Midterm or one week prior to the end of Quarter.
- Since students are required to check NetMoeller on a class-by-class basis, It is the responsibility of the student to call all discovered errors to Mrs. Gallagher's attention ASAP.
