With a far-reaching reputation, Archbishop Moeller High School has one of the finest band programs in the area. The Symphonic Band is the heart and soul of Instrumental Music Education at Moeller, and some aspects of the program offered here cannot be found anywhere else.
The Symphonic Band, shown at left with the Moeller Men's Chorus, performs two major concerts each year, programming quality literature that challenges and motivates the students. The reputation and excellence of this group has led to national performances; the last four years have included trips to New York City and Washington, D.C. In addition, a performance tour of Boston, Massachusetts, is slated for this spring.
All students in the Instrumental Program receive private instruction. Lessons are offered by professional instructors during the school day, offering valuable individual music instruction in a way that will not interfere with a student’s academic responsibilities.

Chamber Ensembles (trios, quintets, etc.) greatly enhance the musicianship of our students, who perform for school and public functions in these teacher-guided, student-led groups.
Solo Performances are also part of the Instrumental Program. Students develop standard concert repertoire and prepare a group recital for parents and friends. They also participate in the OMEA contest, performing their piece for comments by local educators and professionals.
