Required Summer Reading
Commencing in summer 2006, the Moeller English Department has conducted a program of required reading for all students. It complements a program that already features required summer reading for Honors students and a voluntary program for all students. The program is a response to the request of Moeller parents. Our intent is to maintain the progress of our students' skill development.
Books have been chosen with the understanding that teachers are unavailable for assistance during the summer. Hence, the reading levels of books have been judged accordingly.
Summer books are provided by Moeller. Current students will receive books from their English teachers before the end of the school year. They will return the copies to their new teachers in August and be evaluated at that time.
Incoming students may pick up copies at Moeller.
CPI and Honors teachers will write tests for summer reading evaluation. Tests will be administered on the first day of classes. CP2 students will complete a study guide that will be provided when they receive their books. Study guides must be completed on the first day of classes and will be evaluated by their new teachers. Freshmen will complete the study guide for Seven Habits for Highly Effective Students.
These are the summer reading requirements for all students. Students entering these grades in the fall will read the following:
