What is the Annual Fund? The Annual Fund is charitable contributions raised for Moeller’s daily operating needs and the maintenance of our physical facilities. This helps to defray the cost of tuition. Moeller is committed to keeping tuition at a reasonable level, thus increasing charitable gift income through the Annual Fund is one way to accomplish this task.
Why doesn’t Moeller charge enough to cover operating costs? Tuition and fees do not cover the total cost of educating each student. Tuition and fees make up 92% of the operating budget. If tuition was increased to cover the actual cost of all programs, many families may not be able to send their sons here. This could mean a drop in our enrollment, resulting in a cut-back of our programs and higher tuition increases in order to fund all operations; all of which could affect the cost of a Moeller education.
Additionally, charitable gifts would be even more difficult to obtain given the increase in tuition. This would hinder our ability to finance many of the important programs and improvements made possible by charitable support.
Is giving to the Annual Fund unique to our school? No. Private, parochial, and independent schools have long relied upon the generosity and loyalty of their constituents to advance their institutions. Very few, if any, private, parochial, or independent schools, colleges, or universities meet full operational costs with tuition alone.
What does Moeller expect of us in terms of the Annual Fund? We need every person's gift, no matter the amount. We hope you will choose to participate in the Annual Fund to the extent that you are financially able.
How much should we give? Only you can decide. We ask that you remember that your contribution, along with those of all our donors, will directly enhance a young man’s Moeller education. The only gift too small is no gift at all!
When will the fund drive begin? You will receive a letter asking for your support in October. We ask that you make your commitment by Nov. 30 to keep the fundraising cost down. The Annual Fund is designed to offset annual expenses. If you pledge a gift, you may make quarterly or monthly payments to be completed by June 30.
