1.31.08:  Zaragoza House came in fifth in the first ever House Basketball Tournament.  We also, once again, had the fewest detentions in the school for second quarter!

On February 21st our House will be going to Sports Plus for our House Meeting for a day of fun and excitement!  The students need to pay $5 ahead of time for pizza, and only need to being $3 on the 21st to be able to play a myriad of different games!

In March, Zaragoza House will go to Crossgate Lanes to go bowling.  Also in March we will begin electing our new student leadership for next year. . . . .more details to follow.

Thanks to everyone who attended the Zaragoza Tailgate Party last week. . . .And thank you for the continued support of our House. . . . .If any needs anything, please e-mail me.  I hope to see many of you soon. . . . .

Also, Zaragoza House came in 5th place in the Canned Food Drive.  Not bad, but I know we will do better at the Christmas Carol Competition. . . .which will be on Dec. 14th in the gym.  ALL Zaragoza Family members are invited!  We will be singing "Jingle Bell Rock," and we will be accompanied by the Zaragoza House Captain Band -- Billy Yates, Griffin Naylor, Brian Haggerty, Andy Moeggenberg & Tyler Frankenberg.

Lastly, the first ever Zaragoza Basketball Team has been assembled.  Thanks to Student Coaches Michael Davenport, Griffin Naylor, Tony Harris & Danny Ogden for helping to make the selections.  The team will begin playing other Houses after Christmas.  The members are:

Congratulations to these guys, and thank you to everyone who tried out!

11.6.07:  Zaragoza House came out of First Quarter with the fewest detentions in the school!  Coach Ragland's Mentor Group finished with the most students on honor roll with 14 guys!  All in all, the beginning of the school year went very well for us.

Just a reminder that our Gift Gathering Party is THIS FRIDAY at the Haggerty's Home.  If you have not RSVP'd, please do so soon.

Also, today begins the Canned Food Drive.  The students will be given a list of the items that they need to bring in to fill a box and they are to bring it in to Mentor Group.  Zaragoza House always does very well in the CFD, and this year will be no different. . . .Thank you ahead of time for all of your help in this matter.  On a related note, the Trick or Treat for Cans event was very successful, and our House will have many extra cans to contribute this year!

Our next House Meeting will be the Christmas Carol competition in December.  All parents are invited to come and get in the spirit of the Season.  Be well, and I hope to see many of you this Friday!

10.5.07:  Congratulations to Joe Tull, Zaragoza House's newly elected Freshman Captain!  We are all confident that Joe will do an excellent job leading his class throughout the '07 - '08 school year!

History:

Zaragoza, Spain is the place where Blessed William Joseph Chaminade spent his time in exile from France.  While in Zaragoza Chaminade had a vision of Mary at Our Lady of the Pillar church.  This vision inspired him to create the Society of Mary, the Marianists.  Chaminade's teachings fuel the direction and philosophy of both Moeller High School and Zaragoza House, and our House's name pays homage to William Joseph every time we say it.  Without Zaragoza, Spain there would be no Marianists or Moeller; the Blessed Mother is alive and well in our House and our school.
