Retreat opportunities at Moeller High School are designed to meet the diverse spiritual needs of our students at varying developmental levels. Our retreats are structured to help the Men of Moeller examine their (1) Relationship with Self, (2) Relationship with Others, and (3) Relationship with God. We examine these characteristics in the context of our Catholic, Marianist identity.
Freshman Retreat
The Freshman Retreat is an overnight retreat which focuses on community building. Freshman Retreat provides numerous opportunities to get to know your fellow classmates better. The retreat consists of getting-to-know-you activities, team building events, adventure/survival challenges, and much more. The senior house captains, house deans, Pastoral Ministry staff, school nurse and other seniors and faculty members will be present at this overnight event. The retreat will conclude with Mass and a special evening at Moeller.
Class of 2012, the date for 2008 is set! Future Men of Moeller, we'll see you on September 21-22, 2008!
Sophomore Retreat
The Sophomore Retreat focuses on the issues of service and justice. This year we worked with three separate organizations: Gorman Heritage Farm, Su Casa, and the Freestore Foodbank. The purpose of the Sophomore Retreat is to help students become more interested in serving others and to help them reflect upon how they can lead in the community.
2007-2008 dates: March 10-11, 2008
Junior Retreat
The Junior Retreat happens at the Bergamo Retreat Center in Dayton, on the grounds of beautiful Mt. Saint John. The Junior Retreat is an overnight retreat which allows students the time to grow in knowledge of self and others, while reflecting on how God fits into our lives. The retreat focuses on deepening the spirit of brotherhood in a faith community. These retreats go over very well with the students, and are often at full capacity. The earlier that you contact Mr. Elfers, the better chance you have of attending this retreat.
2008 -2009 dates: September 25-26 and October 7-8, 2008; January 26-27 and February 2-3, 2009 (Reservations will be made during 2nd Semester Religion Class)
Senior Retreat** - Kairos
The Kairos Retreat is the culmination of the Moeller retreat program. It is a four day, intensive, Christ-centered retreat which is a "peak experience" for Seniors. Many Seniors mark Kairos as one of the best events in which they participated while at Moeller. Held at the Bergamo Retreat Center near Dayton, Kairos involves witness talks, small and large group activities, daily participation in the Eucharist, and community bonding. The primary goals of the retreat are to break down barriers and deepen relationships with others and God. Retreatants meet monthly after the retreat for on-going faith sharing and support. Note: Retreatants leave Moeller at 4:00 pm the first day of the retreat.
