Retreat opportunities at Moeller are designed to meet the diverse spiritual needs of our students at varying developmental levels.

Our retreats are structured to help the Men of Moeller examine their...
(1) Relationship with Self,
(2) Relationship with Others, and
(3) Relationship with God.

We examine these characteristics in the context of our Catholic, Marianist identity.

  • Freshman Retreat

The Freshman Retreat is an overnight retreat in the fall that focuses on community building and provides numerous opportunities for students to get to know their fellow classmates.

The retreat involves getting-to-know-you activities, team-building events, community prayer, small group sharing, and more. The senior House Captains, House Chaplains, House Deans, Campus Ministry staff, school nurse, and other seniors and faculty members will be present at this overnight event.

The retreat is held annually in October, beginning with Mass at Moeller, and continuing at Higher Ground Conference & Retreat Center in West Harrison, IN.
  • Sophomore Retreat

The sophomore retreat provides students with an opportunity to consider the gifts they've been given and to discern how to use those gifts to become part of a positive movement. Blessed Fr. Chaminade envisioned a Marianist movement: young people inspired to live out their faith, following the Blessed Virgin Mary's example of discipleship.

Students attend the sophomore retreat during the second semester with peers from their house, led by their dean, counselor, mentor teachers, and senior leaders. This overnight retreat is held at Our Lady of the Holy Spirit Center in Norwood, OH.
  • Junior Retreat

The Junior "Spiritus" Retreat takes place at the Bergamo Retreat Center in Dayton, OH, on the grounds of beautiful Mt. Saint John.

This two-day overnight retreat allows students the time to grow in knowledge of self and others, while reflecting on how God is involved in their lives. The retreat focuses on deepening the spirit of brotherhood in a faith community.

Held five separate times during the school year, these retreats are very popular and often filled to capacity. The earlier that juniors contact Mr. Joebgen, the better chance they have of attending this retreat.
  • Kairos (Senior Retreat)

The Kairos Retreat is the culmination of the Moeller retreat program. It is a four-day, intensive, Christ-centered retreat that is a "peak experience" for seniors. Many seniors mark Kairos as one of the best events that they participated in while at Moeller.

Held at the Bergamo Retreat Center near Dayton, OH, Kairos involves witness talks, small- and large-group activities, daily participation in the Eucharist, and community bonding. The primary goals of the retreat are to break down barriers to authentic discipleship and deepen relationships with others and God.

Retreatants meet monthly after the retreat for ongoing faith-sharing and support. (Note: Retreatants leave Moeller at 4 PM the first day of the retreat.)

**Each year, the final Kairos retreat is reserved for the junior class.**
