GCL Results....Week Eight Update

The GCL South Cross Country Championships (combined with the GGCL) were held Saturday, October 12^th, 2019 at the Christ’s Church Mason in Mason, Ohio...home to Moeller’s “Primetime” Invitational Meet as well. On behalf of everyone associated with Moeller Cross Country and the GCL/GGCL, we want to thank Christ’s Church Mason for once again allowing us to use their grounds for our league meets. It’s a great venue, and we greatly appreciate their hospitality. Thank you again!!

In GCL Varsity action, #1 City and #2 State ranked St. Xavier won their 9^th consecutive title with a score of 19. Elder finished second with 46. Moeller third with 90, and LaSalle fourth with 91.

For Moeller, the top individual finisher this year was Junior Cannon Spelman, who finished 14^th in a time of 17:51. Also scoring where Sophomore Grant Prather (16^th – 18:10), Junior Will Mendel (19^th – 18:24), Senior Thomas Zaugg (20^th – 18:25), and Sophomore Zach Colbert (22^nd – 18:30). Also running Varsity was Sophomore Logan Mitchell and Senior Ian Hale.

In the Junior Varsity race, Moeller’s squad finished 3^rd with 84 points. Sophomore Jameson Maynes was Moeller’s top finisher in that race in 14^th place with a time of 18:40. Also scoring were Junior Derek Konkoly, Sophomore Eli Smiddy, Junior Kyle Hegemann, and Sophomore Sam Cline. Finishing out JV were Dominic Pappalardo and Alex Longwell.

Moeller’s Freshmen squad finished 3^rd with 63 points. Leading the way for the Crusaders was Sebastian Rahe in 4^th place with a time of 11:52 over the two-mile course. Also scoring for the freshmen were Sam McCullough, Alex Weisgerber, Henry Meyer, and Thomas Miller.

Finally for the Open race, Moeller’s highest finisher was Senior Will Speigle in 21^st place in a time of 18:31 (out of 109 runners).

The postseason continues for the Varsity squad on Saturday, October 19^th, 2019 with the OHSAA Division One Southwest Ohio District Race “1” at Voice of America Park in Westchester, Ohio, starting at 11:00am. Moeller will face off with the likes of St. Xavier, Lakota West, Loveland, Kings, Walnut Hills, Monroe, Western Brown, Ross, West Clermont, Harrison, Colerain, Goshen, Northwest, and Hamilton, with the top four teams and sixteen individuals of that race advancing to the Regionals in Troy the following weekend. The team could really use your support as they go after one of those qualifying spots. The JV squad will conclude their season on Thursday, October 17^th, 2019 with the District JV/Open Race at Christ’s Church Mason (our home course). Race time 5:15pm. Please come out to cheer on the Crusaders next week!
