GCL Results....Week Eight Update

The GCL South Cross Country Championships (combined with the GGCL and CHL in the afternoon) were held Saturday, October 16^th, 2021 at the Christ’s Church Mason in Mason, Ohio...home to Moeller’s “Primetime” Invitational Meet as well. On behalf of everyone associated with Moeller Cross Country and the GCL/GGCL and CHL, we want to thank Christ’s Church Mason for once again allowing us to use their grounds for our league meets. It’s a great venue, and we greatly appreciate their hospitality. Thank you again!!

In GCL Varsity action, #2 State ranked St. Xavier won their 11^th consecutive title with a score of 25. Elder finished second with 45. Moeller third with 68, and LaSalle fourth with 110.

For Moeller, the top individual finisher this year was Senior Jameson Maynes, who finished 1st in a time of 16:59. Also scoring were Freshman Peter Bachman (14^th – 18:04), Sophomore Jake Karulf (15^th – 18:04), Sophomore Jacob Herzog (18^th – 18:27), and Senior Grant Prather (20^th – 18:36). Also running Varsity were Junior Sebastian Rahe and Senior Zach Colbert.

In the Junior Varsity race, Moeller’s squad finished 3^rd with 68 points. Sophomore Colin Swallender was Moeller’s top finisher in that race in 8^th place with a time of 19:06. Also scoring were Sophomore Max Maney, Sophomore Kyle Hughes, Sophomore Owen Brennan, and Sophomore Colin Evans.

In the freshmen race, that squad finished 3rd with 59 points. Freshmen Finn Taylor was the top finisher in that race in 8^th place with a time of 19:37. Also scoring were Caron Todd, Gavin Barry, Jacob Scott, and Dominic Marmora.

Finally, for the Open race, Moeller’s highest finisher was Senior Eli Smiddy in 3^rd place with a time of 18:44. Sam Cline finished 10^th.

The postseason continues for the Varsity squad on Saturday, October 23^th, 2021 with the OHSAA Division One Southwest Ohio District Race “A” at Voice of America Park in Westchester, Ohio, starting at 11:00am. Moeller will face off with the likes of Mason, Lakota East, Turpin, Sycamore, Walnut Hills, King and many others with the top give team and twenty individuals of that race advancing to Regionals in Troy following weekend.
