McQuaid/Jim Murray Invite Results....Week Six Update

On September 30^th, 2023, the Moeller Cross Country Team had another split-squad race with the Varsity Gold Team traveling to Rochester, New York for the McQuaid Invitational held at Genesee Valley Park; and the Varsity Blue Team stayed in state at Champions Park in Springfield, Ohio for the Jim Murray Memorial Invitational.

For the Gold Team, they finished 13^th place in the Bob Bradley Premier seeded race out of 35 teams with 391 points. The 58th Annual McQuaid Invitational, billed as the nation's largest high school-sponsored cross-country meet, invites schools from twenty states and two Canadian provinces…including the best teams from New York state and from the entire Eastern and Midwest states. This year’s event included 252 teams and approximately 7200 registered runners. In combined divisional scoring, the Gold Team finished 15^th place overall out of the 200 participating boys teams.

Top finisher for Moeller was Jacob Herzog ’24 in 37^th place (out of 241 runners) in a time of 15:37 over the 3 mile race. Also scoring for varsity: Max Maney ’24 (56^th – 15:55), Brock Grubert ’26 (73^rd – 16:02), Owen Speed ’26 (100^th – 16:19), and Zach Lazor (156^th – 17:07). Rounding out Varsity were Jake Karulf, Finn Taylor, Jake Allen, Colin Evans, Colin Swallender.

The JV Squad finished runner-up in the “AA” Race out of 28 teams with 125 points. Top finisher was Steve Schuette ’26 in 13^th place (out of 330 runners) in a time of 17:59 over the 3 mile course. Other JV scoring were Owen Brennan, Jacob Scott, Gavin Barry and Ben Wallner.

The Blue Team finished 17^th out of 27 teams with 441 points. Top finisher was Leo Tierney in 65^th place (out of 284 runners) in a time of 18:45. Also scoring were Kyle Borgemenke, Charlie Meyer, Jared Busam, and Max Milbourne.

The team will finish the regular season on Saturday, October 7^th, 2023 at the Ross Invitational at Ross High School in Hamilton, Ohio. Varsity race time is 9:30am.
