GCL Results....Week Eight Update

The GCL South Cross Country Championships (combined with the GGCL) were held Saturday, October 14^th, 2023 at the Christ’s Church Mason in Mason, Ohio...home to Moeller’s “Primetime” Invitational Meet as well. On behalf of everyone associated with Moeller Cross Country and the GCL/GGCL, we want to thank Christ’s Church Mason for once again allowing us to use their grounds for our league meet. It’s a great venue, and we greatly appreciate their hospitality. Thank you again!!

In GCL Varsity action, #5 State ranked St. Xavier won their 13^th consecutive title with a score of 16. Moeller finished second with 47. Elder third with 69, and LaSalle fourth with 112.

For Moeller, the top individual finisher this year was Senior Max Maney in 5^th place with a time of 17:00. Also scoring were Junior Jacob Herzog (8^th – 17”13), Sophomore Brock Grubert (9th – 17:19), Sophomore Preston Wesley (12^th – 17:22), and Sophomore Owen Speed (13^th – 17:22). Also running Varsity were Zach Lazor and Jake Karulf.

Earning GCL All-Star Honors on First Team: Max Maney. Second Team Jacob Herzog and Brock Grubert, Preston Wesley, and Owen Speed.

In the Junior Varsity race, Moeller’s squad finished 3^rd with 58 points. Junior Finn Taylor was Moeller’s top finisher in that race in 9^th place with a time of 18:51. Also scoring were Jake Allen, Steve Schuette, Leo Tierney, and Jacob Scott.

In the Freshmen race, that squad finished 3rd with 85 points. Ben Wallner was the top finisher for Moeller in 15^th place with a time of 21:23. Also scoring were Charlie Meyer, Pablo Pina, Randy Bruns, and Silas Friesner.

Finally, for the Open race, Moeller’s highest finisher was Senior Owen Brennan in 27^th place with a time of 19:50.

The postseason continues for the Varsity squad on Saturday, October 21st, 2023 with the OHSAA Division One Southwest Ohio District Race “B” at Voice of America Park in Westchester, Ohio, starting at 11:30am. Moeller will face off with the likes of St. Xavier, Milford, Little Miami, and Elder among many others with the top five teams and twenty individuals of that race advancing to Regionals in Troy following weekend.
