EXPERIENTIAL

Experiential learning at Moeller means students don’t just study concepts—they live them. Our classrooms provide a flexible learning environment for students to take ownership of their learning. Our 90-minute block classes provide time for collaboration, inquiry, and exploration.

Veteran science teacher Mr. Dan Shannon designed the Molecular Biology Research course for students who are curious, determined, and eager to dive into real scientific discovery. This hands-on, research-driven course follows the Biochemistry Authentic Scientific Inquiry Laboratory (BASIL) curriculum, allowing students to explore proteins with known structures but unknown functions—studying molecules that have never been characterized before. Using a combination of 3D modeling, in vitro, in vivo, and in silico techniques, students apply cutting-edge methods to uncover new scientific insights. More than just a lab course, this experience reflects Moeller’s commitment to innovative learning—where young men engage in exploration, apply knowledge in real-world contexts, and learn alongside teachers who guide and inspire them.

Learning also extends beyond the classroom walls; we offer global immersion experiences and service learning projects for students to apply their learning in and out of the classroom. Our students discover their passions and accomplish their goals throughout their four years at Moeller.
